Learning Support Assistants (LSAs), also known as Teaching Assistants or Shadow Teachers, are educational professionals who play a crucial role in classrooms. They work diligently to support the learning and development of students, with job titles used interchangeably depending on the setting and specific duties. While their responsibilities can vary widely, they share the common goal of providing personalized support tailored to individual student needs and school policies.
Shadow Teachers, in particular, focus on individual students within mainstream classrooms, typically those with special needs. True to their name, they closely follow these students, offering immediate assistance and adapting learning materials as needed.
Recognizing the vital role these educators play, BCB Foundation offers comprehensive training for LSAs, Teaching Assistants, and Shadow Teachers. Our programs cover crucial aspects like behavioural management techniques, adapting teaching materials, developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), crisis intervention, collaborating with teachers and parents, and understanding legal and ethical considerations.
Continuous professional development is paramount for these educators. We remain committed to fostering ongoing collaboration with special education professionals, therapists, and parents, ensuring everyone stays informed about the latest research and best practices for supporting neurodivergent children in an educational setting.

Navigating the IEP Journey, Hand-in-Hand
The Individualized Education Plan (IEP) can feel like a complex roadmap, but at BCB
Foundation, we walk alongside families every step of the way. We believe in
collaboration, not intimidation, and are dedicated to crafting IEPs that celebrate
each child’s strengths and needs.
Unveiling the IEP Essentials:

We paint a vibrant picture of your child, highlighting their talents, learning
styles, and preferences. - Strengths & Challenges:
We map out areas of mastery and identify growth opportunities, with empathy and
understanding. - Goals with Purpose:
We set clear, achievable goals that spark your child’s excitement and pave the
path to success. - Tailored Support:
We design specialized instruction, technology, and accommodations to empower your
child’s learning journey. - Progress Hand in Hand: We regularly track progress, celebrate milestones,
and adjust the roadmap as needed, ensuring continuous support. - Transitioning with Confidence:
We prepare your child for new chapters, equipping them with essential skills for
future success.
A Journey, Not a Checklist:
We prioritize your child’s well-being above all else. Here’s what you won’t find in
our approach:
- Compliance over Connection: We prioritize fostering a safe and supportive
learning environment where children can thrive, free from unnecessary pressure. - Blaming Differences: We celebrate neurodiversity and embrace unique
learning styles and communication approaches. - Rigid Expectations: We understand that every child learns and plays in
their own way, and tailor approaches accordingly. - Disregarding Needs: We respect individual sensory preferences and ensure
access to tools and breaks for managing emotions and focus. - Masking and Molding: We believe in celebrating who your child is, not
forcing them to fit predetermined moulds.
Together, We Navigate:
The IEP journey is a partnership, and BCB Foundation is here to hold your hand every
step of the way. We empower families with information, resources, and unwavering
support, paving the way for a future filled with inclusivity, achievement, and joy.
